Two Debts

Romans 13:8: Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

Believers owe it to others to love them. You may say and believe that you do not owe love to someone who has withheld love from you, but God says you still owe him love. You owe Him love because if you are a believer God has showered His love upon you. When we receive the love of God we are not to bottle it up and save it just to enjoy ourselves. It is not that kind of love. His love does not make us selfish. His love in our hearts makes us unselfish. We are to pass it on.

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

And then we owe love to God too.

1 John 4:19: We love him, because he first loved us.

John 15:13: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Often we are not only unwilling to lay down our lives for others, we are unwilling to give them the time of day.

1 John 3:17: But whoso hath this world*s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Love is generous. Too often we enjoy God*s generosity to us and then we are stingy toward others.

James 1:17: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Psalms 84:11: For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

1 Timothy 6:17: Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

John 3:27: John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

Acts 14:17: Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

Acts 17:25: Neither is worshipped with men*s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

Luke 6:35: But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Do we love others or do we behave like unbelievers who do not know where love and blessings come from?
